This work proposes exploratory research on the innovative construction system
ICF (Insulated Concrete Forms), which uses Styrofoam/EPS plates as forms in structural
concrete walls. The analysis covers benefits, limitations and comparisons with other
construction forms. The methodology includes review of technical standards, literature
and analysis of data from real works. The hypothesis suggests advantages such as speed,
energy efficiency, thermal and acoustic comfort, with limitations such as initial cost and
the need for specialized labor. The study aims to compare the economic viability between
the ICF system and conventional concrete walls, considering structure, coating, finishing
and other aspects. This system can replace the same aesthetics as a concrete wall, but
provides better thermal and acoustic performance due to the presence of EPS in the
composition of this system. Therefore, this work aims to compare in terms of economic
viability, through the development of a budget for the two systems taking into account the
structure, coating, finishing and waterproofing. Judging by the results obtained,
implementing the ICF system costs 27.44% more expensive compared to concrete wall
systems. However, it appears that the cost of ICF has its main advantages in terms of
better thermal and acoustic performance, a more simplified finish and reduced
waterproofed areas
