CONGRESSO INTERNACIONAL ATHON 2024

Abstract

The special volume of the ATHON 2024 International Congress brings together a curated selection of lectures, oral presentations, and scientific posters presented during the 4th Extension Projects Exhibition, held by ATHON Higher Education in Sorocaba (SP), Brazil. The content reflects thematic diversity and a strong commitment to innovation, sustainability, and social transformation.

The main lectures address topics such as the importance of purpose in the corporate environment, the integration of social impact into economic business logic, the role of virtual and augmented reality in inclusion and education, and systems thinking as a strategy to tackle sustainability challenges. Experts discuss how companies can become agents of positive change by aligning profitability with social responsibility.

In the oral presentations (APOs), several initiatives stand out, focusing on clean energy, technological innovation, inclusive education, recycling in civil construction, workplace happiness, public administration mediation, and the development of the blue economy. Projects such as the use of sawdust in non-structural concrete blocks, the FindBooks digital library platform, and budgetary analyses of public institutions like ANAC and ANCINE demonstrate practical applications and social relevance.

The poster presentations (POs) explore sustainable housing solutions, digital inclusion through user-centered help desk systems, the use of artificial intelligence in the meat industry, and the role of businesses in supporting social initiatives. Many of these projects are notable for their interdisciplinary approach and applicability, fostering a dialogue between science, technology, and collective well-being.

Together, the works highlight the role of higher education institutions in civic education and in promoting applied research, offering pathways for a more just, efficient, and sustainable future. The event provided a platform for exchange and reflection on the main contemporary challenges across various fields of knowledge.
