This study investigates the adaptation of Germans upon their arrival in Sorocaba from the 19th century onward. The aim is to analyze the interaction between German and Sorocabano culture in terms of the survival and adaptation of this colony. Using bibliographic review and participatory observation methodologies, the study seeks to understand how cultural elements such as dance, music, and gastronomy were preserved and transformed over time, revealing their importance in the construction of a diverse cultural identity. Through data collection, it was possible to observe that the arrival of Germans in Sorocaba contributed to the hybridization of local culture, either through the adaptation of customs or the full incorporation of traditional German activities. This influence is reflected in various areas, such as architecture, gastronomy, the establishment of bilingual schools, and the transmission of values. It is concluded that the overcoming of cultural barriers between these peoples brought about cultural appreciation, adaptation to the climate and customs, as well as the enduring preservation of observed cultural elements.
