ECONOMIA CIRCULAR: UMA PROPOSTA PARA A ORGANIZAÇÃO DO MERCADO DE SUCATA METÁLICA NO MUNICÍPIO DE SOROCABA-S

Abstract

: Given that in most municipalities, the informal scrap trade ends up playing an
important role in the replacement of part of this waste in the market, this paper sought to
draw an overview of the scrap market in the city of Sorocaba-SP, as well as its trends and
possibilities, from the perspective of the circular economy. The study points out that
despite the large number of establishments that work with metal scrap, and the good
quality and variety of materials found in these establishments, its reuse in civil
construction is still small and limited by the lack of technical information and hand
preparation of labor employed in the sector. With a view to improving the sustainability

of civil construction, the study suggests actions to bring civil construction professionals
closer to the metal scrap trade, awareness of the workforce and technical training for the
reuse of raw materials in projects and constructions
